Eldridge files to run for U.S. Senate

LITTLE ROCK – Former prosecutor and U.S. Attorney Conner Eldridge today filed with the Secretary of State’s office to run for the U.S. Senate. Eldridge, who was joined by his wife and three sons, said placing his name on the ballot for the very first time was an honor and a moment his family will always remember.

“Today, I officially filed to place my name on the ballot to run for the U.S. Senate. As a first-time candidate, it was a tremendous honor and a moment that I wanted Mary Elizabeth and our three boys to share with me,” said Eldridge. “But, this day isn’t about me. This day is about Arkansans who feel they have no voice in Washington – who are being ignored and who are frustrated by the lack of results. It’s time for us to say ‘enough,’ and to stand up for our state.  That is what I will do, and that is why I am running.”

Eldridge first announced his candidacy on Sept. 9, 2015, and said he is running to help fix a broken Washington and to give Arkansans a voice in Washington.

“People are frustrated because career politicians are wreaking havoc on our economy. Our leaders in Washington are more interested in pushing partisan agendas than finding commonsense solutions,” said Eldridge. “My opponent has had 15 years under Republican and Democratic presidents to get things done – and he hasn’t delivered. It’s time for a strong, new voice in the U.S. Senate. And, I want to be that voice.

Eldridge said his campaign will focus on issues important to all Arkansans – not on partisan games or pushing ideological agendas.

“As senator, I will get up every morning and ask, ‘What can we get done for Arkansas today?’” said Eldridge. “We’ve got to create more and better-paying jobs, strengthen education and make college more affordable, and we need to get rid of stupid regulations that hurt small businesses and farmers. We also need to bring down the national debt, protect our seniors, take care of our veterans and make our communities – and our country – safer. These are the issues our campaign will focus on over the next year, and they will be my focus as U.S. Senator.”

Born in Fayetteville, Eldridge grew up in Augusta and Lonoke. After law school, he moved to Arkadelphia where he worked as a community banker and served as a prosecutor for Clark County. Eldridge moved to Fort Smith following his unanimous confirmation by the U.S. Senate in 2010 to become U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Arkansas. A husband and father of three, Eldridge now lives in Fayetteville. Eldridge announced his candidacy for the U.S. Senate on Sept. 9, 2015.
