U.S. Senate Candidate Eldridge Supports ‘No Budget, No Pay’ Act
LITTLE ROCK – Former prosecutor and U.S. Attorney Conner Eldridge, who is running for the U.S. Senate, today said he supports the No Budget, No Pay Act, which requires that for every day Congress fails to submit a budget on time, Members of Congress won't get paid. The statement comes after the Republican-led House of Representatives failed to meet their Friday, April 15 budgetary deadline.
Statement from Conner Eldridge:
“If ordinary Arkansans don't do their job, they don't get paid. We should hold our leaders in Washington to the same standard," said Eldridge. "Congress can't stop out-of-control spending if they don't have a budget to guide them. That is why I fully support the No Budget, No Pay Act, which says that for every day past the deadline Congress doesn't pass a budget, Members of Congress won't get paid -- and they can't pay themselves back when they finally do pass a budget. Arkansans deserve better than the gridlock and dysfunction that career politicians like John Boozman are causing in Congress. We need bipartisan, commonsense reforms that hold our leaders accountable and force them to do their jobs and actually earn their paychecks."
