LITTLE ROCK – Former U.S. Attorney and candidate for the U.S. Senate Conner Eldridge today released a statement responding to presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump's call to ban Muslims from entering the United States.
Statement from Conner Eldridge:
"I strongly oppose the ban on Muslims proposed by Donald Trump. We need to focus on combating radical jihadists, which are only a subset of the Islamic faith. Applying blanket bans on an entire religion clearly violates the Constitution and the basic values of America. We should collaborate with people of all faiths -- including American Muslims -- to combat radicalization that leads to violence, continuing the work already being done by the FBI and other law enforcement organizations. I am proud to have been a part of these efforts as United States Attorney, and would seek to continue to empower law enforcement, the military, and others in this battle against domestic and international terrorists."
