U.S. Senate Candidate Eldridge Promises Heavy Travel Schedule for Coming Week

LITTLE ROCK - Former U.S. Attorney and candidate for the U.S. Senate Conner Eldridge today promised a heavy travel schedule for the coming week, in which he will continue his "Hear Arkansas Voices" (#HearARVoices) road tour around the state. Last week, Eldridge announced he has already traveled to all 75 Arkansas counties, and promised to continue aggressively traveling the state. Eldridge's travels will take place as Sen. Boozman begins the Senate's seven-week recess by traveling to Cleveland for the Republican National Convention. Citing incidents such as Baton Rouge and Dallas, Eldridge, the former prosecutor, said there are too many pressing issues that must be addressed for Senator Boozman to be schmoozing with his Washington friends in Cleveland.

"When I look at troubles facing the nation, such as recent, tragic acts of violence in Baton Rouge, and then I see our supposed leaders putting national partisan politics over the people of Arkansas, I have a major problem with that," said Eldridge. "Congress just began the longest recess in recent history, and instead of using that as an opportunity to engage with the people of this state, my opponent is up in Cleveland hanging with his Washington establishment friends. Right now, it is blatantly clear we have an absent Senator, who goes along to get along and is disengaged with Arkansas."

The Republican National Convention, which started Monday, will run through the end of the week. It is unclear when, if at all, Sen. Boozman will return to the state.

"I've already been to all 75 counties, and as I've said before, I'm just getting warmed up," said Eldridge. "That is why this week I will be hitting the road again, listening to the hardworking folks of Arkansas, and figuring out how to address the critically important issues plaguing our state and country. We've got too much to do for our leaders to begin a long vacation by engaging in partisan politics. I look forward to the coming week of hard work and conversation with the people of Arkansas."
