U.S. Senate Candidate Eldridge Issues Statement on Passing of Senator Dale Bumpers

LITTLE ROCK - Former prosecutor and candidate for U.S. Senate Conner Eldridge issued the following statement on learning of the passing of former Arkansas Governor and Senator Dale Bumpers.

Statement by Conner Eldridge:

"Mary Elizabeth and I are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former Arkansas Governor and Senator Dale Bumpers. He served his state and nation with dedication, dignity and honor - setting the standard for public service and earning the well-deserved reputation as one of the finest orators in U.S. Senate history. From fighting for civil rights in his hometown of Charleston, to strengthening education as governor, and to fighting for agriculture, conservation and health care as senator, Dale Bumpers' work made our state and nation a better place to call home for all.

"My grandfather and Senator Bumpers knew each other well, and my wife, Mary Elizabeth, was a page for Senator Bumpers the summer we met, so my family has had the privilege to know Senator Bumpers for many years. He will be deeply missed by all. His wife, Betty, his family and his many friends are in our thoughts and prayers."
