LITTLE ROCK - Former U.S. Attorney and candidate for the U.S. Senate Conner Eldridge today challenged incumbent Sen. John Boozman to a debate in Hot Springs at the Association of Arkansas Counties' Annual Fish Fry on Wednesday, August 24 at 7:30 p.m. Senator Boozman and the Senate are on the tail end of an historic seven-week recess, which has seen Sen. Boozman tour courthouses in Pensacola, Florida and spend time in Cleveland, Ohio.
"My repeated calls for debate have been met with nothing but silence from the Senator," said Eldridge. “I’ve even made it easy for my opponent by inviting him to debate at events we both attend, but he has still found a way to avoid my challenges. Enough with the dodging and hiding -- the Arkansas people want to know where he stands on a number of issues. And that is why I challenge Sen. Boozman to debate at the Arkansas Counties Annual Fish Fry, where he should be in Hot Springs tonight."
This week, the Eldridge Campaign has highlighted the Senator's votes against Arkansas's veterans and military families, and his continued absence in the state. Conner Eldridge has visited all 75 counties in Arkansas in less than a year, while Sen. Boozman is still not on record in some Arkansas counties, even as he finds time to travel the country and the globe.
"Sen. Boozman has had nearly seven weeks of time off to spend time with the people of this state," said Eldridge. "Instead of giving voters a chance to hear from both of their candidates for U.S. Senate, Sen. Boozman has traveled to other states, ignoring calls from Arkansans, news outlets, and our campaign to debate the issues. I won’t back down from answering and representing the Arkansas people."
