The Issues

Fiscal Responsibility

Arkansas state law requires the legislature to pass a balanced budget every year.  It’s time to take some Arkansas common sense to Washington.

Conner will hold government accountable and balance the budget:

  • Direct the General Accountability Office to review the entire federal budget to identify and root out waste, fraud and abuse.
  • Every budget year, require federal departments and agencies to defend every dollar and submit annual recommendations on how to reduce redundancy and streamline services.
  • Pass the No Budget, No Pay Act, which says for every day that Congress fails to pass a budget on time, its members don’t get paid.
  • Eliminate automatic raises for Members of Congress and force them to defend any raises to the American public.

Conner is frustrated with the federal government carelessly spending beyond its means. Our deficit and debt are out of control and have been since 2001 – under both Republican and Democratic Presidents and under both Republican and Democratic Congresses.  It’s time to stop the spending; It’s time to get work.

Senator John Boozman, has been in Washington for nearly 15 years. Throughout that time, the debt has tripled – from $6 trillion in 2001 to more than $18 trillion now.  He’s voted for several massive spending bills that have contributed to this problem, and he’s offered no real solutions on how we tackle this issue. As your next Senator, Conner will take to the Senate floor and hold leaders from both parties accountable.

Finally, Congress must return to regular order and do its job by passing a budget on time every year. Conner supports the No Budget, No Pay Act, which says that for every day Members of Congress fail to pass a budget on time, they don’t get paid.
